The Specialist Mathematics course develops students' ability to define and explain key mathematical concepts and to apply mathematical skills and techniques. It builds on the concepts studied in Units 1&2 Specialist Mathematics. The development of student understanding of mathematical structure and proof is central to the course. Students use CAS technology and develop skills in using technology to produce results and carry out mathematical analysis. The studied topics are complex numbers, vectors, coordinate geometry, circular functions, calculus, differential equations, kinematics, vector calculus, probability and statistics, logic, proof and algorithms.
