All students at GWSC study a core mathematics program in Year 7 – 9, a course based on the Victorian Curriculum. A Year 9 enrichment elective called Mathematical Modelling is offered to capable and interested students.
All students will study one of two choices of Year 10 Mathematics subjects. The two options are Year 10 General Mathematics or Year 10 Mathematical Methods. Some students have the opportunity to study VCE Units 1 & 2 Mathematical Methods in addition to the Year 10 Mathematical Methods subject.
In Year 11 and Year 12 all of the VCE Mathematics subjects are offered to students as course options. Students are encouraged to continue with some form of mathematics in their VCE, and almost all students continue with at least one mathematics subject.
Units 3 & 4 Algorithmics is offered to students biennially as an option for both Year 11 and Year 12 students.
There is further information about each subject on the individual subject pages, and further information about the recommended VCE mathematics pathways on the pathways page.
