Amanda Hsiung-Blodgett

Biography

Amanda Hsiung is a world language instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience on four continents. Amanda is passionate about bilingual education and supports parents raising bilingual kids. She has been a Mandarin and ESL instructor,  an executive at a leading entertainment media company, and the Netflix Word Party program's Chinese language consultant for the dual-language seasons. She is the founder of Miss Panda Chinese, the author of First Mandarin Sounds: An Awesome Chinese Word Book, co-author of Little Bun: A Bilingual Storybook About Feelings, the host of the Playful Chinese podcast, and the producer of "Let's Learn Mandarin Chinese with Miss Panda!" streaming album on Spotify. Keep your eyes open for her next book, “My First Chinese Stories."  She has been presenting for GWATFL Conferences since 2019 upon her relocation/return to the greater Washington DC area from South America.  Amanda Hsiung became a GWATFL MAP in 2022.

The Master’s program in Foreign Languages at George Mason University offers concentrations in French, Spanish, French and Spanish, and Spanish Bilingual/Multicultural Education and an online Graduate Certificate in Spanish Heritage Language Education (15 credits) that can be taken alone or in conjunction with the MA (without additional credits). Funding opportunities are available and applications accepted for Spring, Summer or Fall!
