Julia Z. Meade 

Biography

Julia is a highly experienced and dedicated educator with over three decades of teaching expertise. She started her career teaching adults at Diplomatic Languages Services after completing her training with Berlitz. Later, she took courses to teach children and has been committed to creating and designing activities that motivate her students to become lifelong learners.

For 27 years, Julia was the Lead Instructor of the Modern Language Department at Blessed Sacrament School in Washington, D.C. She incorporated the Spanish Curriculum in 1995, making Spanish a core subject at the school. Julia has also received her Certification from the State of Maryland in Secondary Education Spanish Instruction.

Julia received her B.A. in Philosophy in 1983 and her M.A. in Philosophy and Educational Sciences in 1988, both from the University of Barcelona in Spain. She is an active member of AATSP, ACTFL, and GWATFL for over 25 years, continually evolving and making strides in World Languages and Cultures. Julia was a Presenter at the 2018 AATSP Conference in Salamanca, Spain, commemorating the 800th Anniversary of the University's foundation. Additionally, she collaborated with ADW as a Presenter during their Spring and Fall Professional Development for Teachers in 2019.

Apart from teaching, Julia enjoys traveling, daily workouts/walking, cooking, gardening, and spending quality time with her immediate family in the US and relatives in Spain. She is also a dedicated Sodalist throughout her Church and does charitable work with various organizations, especially donating time and monetary support to the Little Sisters of the Poor.

With her vast experience and dedication to teaching, Julia is a valuable asset to any institution or organization seeking to enhance their language education programs.
