Hop Trefoil is a biennial plant that is invasive to the Pine Bush, we consider it a weed in the butterfly courtyard and we do weed it out when we see it but there is still plenty present in the butterfly courtyard.
Identification:
Hop Trefoil is a plant that does not get very tall but likes to spread out along the ground, this plant has leaves that are very similar to other clovers (Trefoils are very closely related to clovers). This plant has small yellow flowers that do not have petals.
Flowers:
Hop Trefoils have small yellow flowers that do not have any flower petals, they do not look like the traditional flower.
Butterflies:
This plant's flowers are too small for most butterflies, but the butterflies that are small enough to drink the nectar of this plant's flowers will benefit from this flower.
