If you rub and/or rip a leaf of a spicebush plant it will make a cinnamon/spice smell. This distinctly smelling leaf is how this plant got its name.
Flowers:
Spicebush has beautiful, yellow flowers. However, the flowers aren’t that robust. The flowers will appear for a short time in the spring (March-early April)
