Welcome Summer! ~

Many thanks go to our community for a great school year! Hoping your summer includes lots of family time, ice cream, swimming, laughter, and fabulous memories. Most of all stay safe!   

Summer and Start-Up Information with contact numbers, fall start dates, next year's supplies list, and more will be posted to our Website ces@blackgold.ca by Thursday, June 29. 

Please note, the Welcome Back BBQ will be Monday, Aug. 28 from 5:00 to 6:30.  More info to come at a later date.

Welcome Mrs. Hodge!

We are please to announce that Mrs. Amy Hodge will be joining CES as the Assistant Principal for the 2023-2024 school year.  Mrs. Hodge currently teaches at Caledonia Park School in Leduc.  Mrs. Hodge completed her Bachelor of Education Degree through the University of Alberta. She completed her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership through the University of Portland. 

Fire Department Visit to Kindergarten

Due to the rainy weather, the kindergarten students were unable to go over to the Fire Station  Captain Van Looy and Sparky came to the rescue by coming over to the school with a fire truck so students could have an opportunity to check it out.  What a wonderful thing to do.  The students were very happy!

Kindergarten's End of Year Field Trip

CES kindergarten classes celebrated the end of the school year with a field trip to Allstars Indoor Playland and Fred Johns Park. 

Fitset Ninja

The students had an opportunity to test their Ninja Warrior skills on Thursday.  Instructors from Fitset Ninja in Edmonton spend the day demonstrating how to maneuver the obstacle course to the students and then coaching them through the course.  The Div. 2 students had an hour on the course and the Div. 1 students had 45 minutes.  The students were definitely tired after their time on the course.

Kindergarten Graduation

 Our 2023 kindergarten students celebrated the end of the year with their graduation on June 23. 

 Gr. 6 Farewell

Thank you to all the family members that were able to join us as we celebrated our gr. 6 students at their Grade 6 Farewell.  We wish them all the best and we will miss them! Good luck in Junior High!

Gr. 1's Baby Chick and Bee Visit

There was no end to the learning for the gr.1 students this week.  They hatched chicks and had a visit from Mrs. Sorenson to learn about bees and their hives.

 Gr. 4 Scavenger Hunt and Splash Park

The Gr. 4W class spent Friday morning completing a scavenger hunt around Calmar.  They finished up the day by going to the Splash Park for the afternoon.  

 Gr. 4/5J In School Field Trip

The 4/5J class had a field trip come to them.  Thanks to the parents that were able to help out.

 West 39 Minor Hockey

 

Registration is now open for the 2023/2024 season.  There will be an early registration discount of $100 if you register and make at least one payment by August 1, 2023.  If no payment is made by August 1, the fee goes up by $100.  If you are paying by installments, the first installment will be collected at the time of registration and the second and third will be due September 1 and October 1, respectively. If your complete fee has not been collected by October 1, your child will not play.

 Things may look a little different this year, as Calmar, Thorsby and Warburg Minor Hockey Associations work together to create one association to make life simpler.  It will be West 39 Hockey.....we look forward to a new logo and jersey colors for the upcoming season!  You will register through this link whether you are Calmar, Thorsby or Warburg, it will be under one and everyone will have the same fees and fundraising obligations.

 If you are paying by E-Transfer, please send to treasurer@thorsbymha.org and make security answer Fees2023/24 and put your child's name(s) in the comment section.
