Gr. 6 Birch Bay Trip

The grade 6 students celebrated their last year at CES by going to Birch Bay.  While they were there, they tested their skill and bravery as they completed some of the extreme tasks.  Great job, Gr. 6s!

Kindergarten Father's Night

The CES kinders celebrated their dads at our special Father's Day celebration.

National Peoples Indigenous Day

On Friday, the entire school celebrated National Peoples Indigenous Day by listening to stories of the Plains Cree traditions as told by Mr. Brad Rabbit.  Mr. Rabbit is an Elder and Knowledge Keeper.  Mr. Rabbit is a former Chief of the Montana Band at Maskwacis.  Mr. Rabbit has been acknowledged for his work in sharing Indigenous culture, heritage, and ways of knowing.  We were so fortunate to have him spend the morning with us.

The students saw how a tipi was raised and were able to go inside the tipi and see some artifacts and ask questions.  They were entertained by drumming, singing, and Carlene Cutknife, a Fancy Dancer.

To end the morning, the students were treated to some bannock and Saskatoon jam.  Thank you to Mrs. Borys for baking the bannock with some of the students, to Mrs. LaGrandeur for making the Saskatoon jam, and to Mrs. Ritchie for organizing the event.

In the afternoon, Cst. Kuny, Mrs. Kuny's son, shared some of his artifacts that he has collected with the Gr. 1 and 2 students.  Thank you, Cst. Kuny!

Thank you to all of the parents that were able to share this presentation with us!

PTA News

PTA would like to send a BIG thank you to the Town of Calmar for their platinum donation of $40,000 towards our playground!!! As well as a BIG thank you to Leduc County for their platinum donation of $10,000 for the playground!!!
