Monday 01/22/2024
Today we took our plates from Friday out of the fridge and opened them up. We used our method of choice to streak the E. Coli onto the two different plates. After both plates had the bacteria applied we wrapped them in parafilm and put them in the incubator.
Wednesday 01/24/2024
Tuesday was a snowday but today we pulled the plates out of the incubator. We wanted to see if our E. coli was growing so to do this we used a gram stain method. We learned from a classmate and then did it ourselves on both of the plates. Both plates show growth of the E. coli.
Thursday 01/25/2024
Today was by far our most productive day to date. We took advantage of an extra 30 minute class time by receating our hot sauce dilutions. After the dilutions were done we pulled the agar off the burner and mixed five different plates(one for each of the dilutions + a control). We then put them in the fridge to cool.
Friday 01/26/2024
We took the plates out of the fridge and streaked all of the plates with E. coli. After the streaking process was finished we wrapped all of the plates back up using parafilm and put them in the incubator to grow. After we spent the rest of the hour creating this blog.
