Writing Topic of the Cycle
Each 10 Day Cycle, students will be given a writing topic on Day 1 and it will be due Day 10. They are expected to research or brainstorm about the topic and write a medium length writing piece about it (15-25 sentences) . This task is to be completed at home and can also be focused on at school during independent work periods. We will spend time discussing the topics at school to help students develop ideas for each topic. The writing process will be thoroughly modeled in the classroom to support student success. We will also spend a significant amount of time analyzing writing pieces to recognize the elements of strong writing!
I will attempt to post samples of student work (with student permission) periodically.
The following stages are to be completed during the writing of the paragraph:
1) Brainstorming (must be submitted)
2) Initial Draft & Edits/Revisions (must be submitted)
4) Final Draft (must be submitted; can be written or typed, shared through Chrome account)
Parents, please reflect on the role you wish to play in your child's weekly writing assignments. You are encouraged to judge the individual needs of your child for support with editing/revising.
Success Criteria:
There is a minimum of 15 sentences.
