Grade 6 Student Generated Success Criteria for
Oral/Visual Communication Reed 2020
Voice Projection (Everyone can hear you clearly)
Some eye contact (ideally maximize eye contact)
Try to avoid repetitive words (i.e. “um”, “like”)
Voice Expression (avoid being monotone)
Body Expression (i.e. hand gestures and facial expressions)
Proper level of enthusiasm, passion for topic expressed
Facing audience and only making reference to resources (i.e. Smart Board)
Fluency (your ideas flow without interruption)
Avoiding too long of a pause
Proper Rate (speaking not too slow or too fast)
Avoiding distracting behaviours (i.e. fiddling)
Expressing ideas appropriately according to punctuation and sentence structure
Topic is well developed and word choice is effective for purpose
Practice is evident (flows)
If appropriate, audience is involved
Memorize what you can to maximize eye contact and confidence
