- Eat healthy foods to make sure you have enough energy to study for and write the test
- Know the success criteria so that you know what the teacher is expecting of you
- Stay calm, don’t act frantically
- Gradually increase the amount that you study as you get closer to the test
- Get a good amount of sleep to allow your brain to function optimally
- Make a little routine for studying
- Find out what the best atmosphere is for you to study in (example: dead silence or some noise)
- Find a spot to study where there are minimal distractions
- Use the classroom resources
- Take notes in class and make an anchor to study
- While you study don’t have a phone or IPOD with you (unless a tool for studying)
- Clear your mind before studying
- Have a nutritious breakfast on the day of the test
- Perhaps, chew gum or suck on a mint to help brainwaves function optimally
- Make sure you are on time to write your test (example, set your alarm)
- Find a quiet study place in your home or backyard
- Have your entire test writing supplies ready
- Start studying early to avoid cramming at the last second
- Manage your stress to avoid being stressed
- Set a time goal for studying (example: 1 hour nightly)
- Do something relaxing the day before studying
- Get some exercise while studying to maintain a great energy level
- Know the key words and ideas for the test
- Know what has to be memorized or remembered
- Have a sharp pencil ready to go!
- Don’t study so much that it interferes with your sleep

- Write out questions on cue cards and have someone else ask you the questions or create online flashcards site
- Study daily
- Learn what has to be memorized or matched and spend time daily recalling the material
- Create practice questions and practice answering them
- Make sure you have a complete set of notes to study from and that the notes are accurate
- When practicing questions, say the answer aloud and write it down
- Make sure you understand what is expected of you
- Make sure you have a complete understanding of the text material or be sure to get assistance
- Make sure you focus when you study (have a study spot)
- When writing the test answer what you know first and go back to the questions you have difficulty with at the end
- Make sure your answers are clear and detailed appropriately
- Make sure you have the appropriate tools to write the test (i.e. pencil(s), eraser)
- Be PERSISTENT
- Read your test over and REVISE (change) when needed
