Introduction Letter

Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,

Welcome to the beginning of the 2023 - 2024 school year! Some of you I have had the pleasure of meeting already and I hope to meet all of you sometime soon. This is my  8th year at Masonville! I absolutely love the enthusiasm for learning and positive growth mindset that is such an embedded part of the Mustang culture!

I have taught previously at Weldon Park Academy (2 years), Sherwood Forest (12 years) and Orchard Park (3 years).  I went to Wilfrid Laurier University and Western where I studied Physical Education, Psychology & Education. I have taught Grade 6 for the majority of my teaching career.

Assignments & Events will be posted on our google classroom. This website will give you some background information and list of resources that I hope you find useful.

My personal philosophy as a teacher is to strive to the best of my ability to be a kind, supportive and enthusiastic educator.  I place a strong emphasis on the development of self-confidence, self-discipline, independence, problem-solving and goal setting.

I have learned that when parents/guardians, teachers and students all work together towards common goals amazing things can happen! I hope you find me very approachable and open to any feedback that you wish to share.

On a personal level, when not focused on teaching related activities I spend time involved in athletic pursuits, working on “projects” around the house and reading.  I live with my wonderful wife Heather, my enthusiastic 10 year old son Colin and our lively 6 year old cockapoo, Winnie!

Looking forward to another fantastic year at Masonville!

Mr. Reed
