Create Educational Leadership Portfolio Site from Template

ATTENTION: If the template looks like it has been edited please email me (jcamidon@olemiss.edu) as soon as possible. The template may have been tampered with and needs to be replaced.

NOTICE: PLEASE FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY, OR YOUR WORK WILL BE LOST. NOTE ESPECIALLY THE BOLDED STEP BELOW.

We use a template to launch portfolios so less effort can be spent on the technical aspects of the portfolio and more effort can be spent on authoring content into the portfolio. To create your Educational Leadership Portfolio site from the template:

  1. Open your Chrome Browser (the actions below won't work in any other browser).

  2. Log in to Google Drive using your @go.olemiss.edu email address.

  3. Click this link to navigate to the Educational Leadership Portfolio Template.

  4. Click on the three vertical dots right next to the PUBLISH button.

  5. Click Duplicate Site.

  6. Change the name to "FirstName LastName Educational Leadership Portfolio".

  7. Change the folder where your portfolio site is located to "My Drive".

  8. Click "Duplicate".

  9. The process to copy your site will take a bit of time. At the bottom of the template page there will eventually be a black box that says "Copy started. Check your email for updates."

  10. Close the Educational Leadership Portfolio Template window by clicking the x in the tab (just to avoid confusion). People that fail to execute this step have had their work deleted because they started to edit the template rather than their own portfolio site. It will take a moment for your site to be created from the template.

  11. Navigate to Google Drive, click "My Drive", and open your portfolio file named FirstName LastName Educational Leadership Portfolio. (If you don't see it try waiting a minute and reloading the page, again it takes a few minutes to copy the site).

  12. Adjust who your site is shared with by clicking the person with the + sign at the top of your window.

  13. Under "Links" click the "Change" link

  14. On the "Draft" row, make sure it reads "Draft Restricted". If not click on the small triangle on that row to select "Restricted"

  15. On the "Published" row, make sure it reads "Published site Public". And below it will read "Anyone on the internet can find and open."

  16. Click Done.

You just created your Educational Leadership Portfolio! But it needs to be tailored to you...on to the next task!
