Here are some examples of the work done by the Lake Academy grade 3 art class in 2014/2015. Students learned about the elements and principles of design to create a variety of different pieces of art throughout the year.
Complementary Colour Trees
The display demonstrates the students’ use of complementary colours, line, and pattern.
Catch a Falling Snowflake
Students learned how to use pastels from creating these portraits of people catching snowflakes on their tongues.
African Dancers
To celebrate African Heritage Month in February, students watched Black Soul presented by the National Film Board. They then drew African dancers and wrote words surrounding their dancers to reflect what they learned from watching Black Soul.
Tea Dolls
Students created their own tea dolls as a cross curricular activity combining art and social studies. Students learned how Innu children would carry tea dolls containing two pounds of tea with them as they moved from place to place hundreds of years ago along the coast of Eastern Labrador.
