There is Much More to Christmas
Script by: Alison Sheffield
Child 1 - Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
All the children were running like a cat chasing a mouse.
Child 2 - They jumped up and down without a care,
They knew they’d get presents, they would not want to share.
Child 3 - The children were greedy all up in their heads,
As they yelled at their parents “I’m not going to bed.”
Parent 1 - Then to their surprise Mom and Dad made a shift,
They told the children “fine then, no gifts!”
⅔ Wam Song --> Nuttin’ for Christmas
Parent 2 - The children were sad and didn’t know what to do,
Their parents said “the meaning of Christmas is what we’ll give you.”
Parent 3 - In song we will share stories of love, family, and friends,
That will teach you that presents are no means to an end.
Parent 4 - Here is the first to sing about Christmas at hand,
How it should be in our hearts thinking of others across this land.
⅔ Wam Song --> Happy X-mas
Parent 5 - As you can see dear children tonight,
There is more to this day than presents that cause fights.
Parent 6 - Here to present this lesson at hand,
Comes Santa’s reindeer from far northern lands.
P/1 S Song - -> Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
P/1 S Song - -> Up on the House Top
Reindeer - Now that you’ve heard from the reindeer tonight,
We have another special guest to share a Christmas delight.
P/1 M Song --> Penguin Parade
Penguin 1 - Yes parading can be fun,
But now we’ll share how our most special event is done.
Penguin 2 - Each year we hold a wonderful ball,
We hope you enjoy dancing, maybe next time you could join us all.
P/1 M Song --> Penguin Ball
Penguin 3 - As you can see spending time with others,
Is as important as giving to another.
⅔ CH --> Frosty the Snowman
Snow 1 - Thumpty Thumpty and a gust of wind
We are the snowflakes who are just blowing in.
Snow 2 - We are here to remind you to enjoy this time of year
Snow might be frustrating, but to some it is dear.
Snow 3 - Frosty knew how to have lots of fun
Our next number will sing about missing our loved ones.
⅔ CH --> White Christmas
Snow 4 - Something about snow during the holidays
Seems special despite what the piles of it weigh.
Snow 5 - Here comes another group of special guests,
They are small with pointy ears and put factories to test.
Elf 1 - Good evening family, guardians and friends
We have some helpful advice we want to lend
Elf 2 - We are the ones who build the toys,
Under Santa’s command we provide for the girls and boys.
Elf 3 - Although our job is to build gifts,
We know in our hearts there should be more, catch my drift?
Elf 4 - But we are not greedy or rude you will see
We build things to share with family.
Elf 5 - Just in case you think twice,
Here are some tips on how to be nice.
⅔ Wen Song → Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Elf 6 - We help Santa and spread cheer,
The message we want to send is to share what is dear.
Elf 7 - Love, help, be friendly to all,
Share what you have and you’ll have a ball.
Elf 8 - One more fun part of this festive time of year,
Are the beautiful decorations spread far and near.
Elf 9 - These symbols of beauty, joy, and faith,
Bring us together and make us feel safe.
⅔ Wen Song --> Deck the Halls
Elf 10 - Our halls are decked and toys all built too
Here come a few now to entertain you.
⅘ Canon --> Parade of Wooden Soldiers
Soldier 1 - Now you know what we get up to at night
I bet if you were there you’d get quite a fright.
Soldier 2 - Time for a story from long long ago
About communication, family and hope.
Soldier 3 - A lonesome boy who has a drum
To share a tale of pa-rum pum pum pum.
⅘ Canon --> Drummer Boy
Soldier 4 - Reindeer, Penguins, and Elves, their toys too
Spoke lots of Christmas, but there is more to share with you.
Soldier 5 - A group of students are on their way.
To teach you about other special days.
Student 1 - We are here to spread the word
There are lots of other holidays, haven’t you heard?
Student 2 - Hanukkah is the first we will share
It began because of something that wasn’t fair.
Student 3 - 2000 years ago the Greek forced Jewish people to change their ways
The Jewish Temple was taken over, and the people were made to obey.
Student 4 - One day, the Temple was once again theirs
The Jewish people could let go of their fears.
Student 5 - Each night in the Temple a candle needed to be lit
They did not have enough oil, they only had a bit
Student 6 - They lit the candle with the small amount of oil
It burned for eight nights, the Greeks had been foiled.
Student 7 - Because of this there came the Festival of Lights
The celebration of Hanukkah for a total of eight nights.
5 Munro --> O Hanukkah O Hanukkah
Student 8 - The second holiday we will share with you
Is Kwanzaa, an African celebration named after “first fruit”
Student 9 - It is a week long celebration of family, community, and culture
You will see feasts, music, dancing, and drums for sure.
Student 10 - The holiday is meant to capture seven principles you will see
Unity, self-determination, work, economy, purpose, faith, and creativity.
5 Munro --> Sing Noel
Child 4 - Mom and dad, hate saying this but you were right,
There is much more to Christmas, and we certainly should not fight.
Choir --> Carol of the Bells
All staff and students --> Finale

Penguin Parade
Penguins are parading across the snow.
Waddle, waddle, waddle, where will they go?
With a funny hop, the penguins stop.
Jump into the water with a belly flop!
After swimming is over everybody goes home.
Side to side they waddle, penguin metronomes.

Penguin Ball
See them waltz, see them dance, see the penguins
All dressed in black and white.
They are here once a year for the dancing,
At the penguin ball tonight.
Whirling and dipping, sliding and slipping,
Dancing together cheek to cheek.
Frozen Atlantic, it's so romantic,
Dancing by moonlight on the beach.
See them waltz, see them dance, see the penguins
All dressed in black and white.
They are here once a year for the dancing,
At the penguin ball tonight.
Hear them sigh, see them stop,
See the penguins so sadly say goodnight.
Waltzing done, hear them hum bits of music
As they waddle out of sight.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,
But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?
Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Up on the House Top
Up on the housetop reindeer pause
Out jumps good old Santa Claus
Down through the chimney with lots of toys
All for the little ones, Christmas joys
Refrain: Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go? Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with old Saint Nick
First comes the stocking of little Nell
Oh, dear Santa fill it well
Give her a dolly that laughs and cries
One that will open and shut her eyes
[Refrain]
Next comes the stocking of little Will
Oh, just see what a glorious fill
Here is a hammer and lots of tacks
Also a ball and a mitt and a bat
[Refrain]

White Christmas
Doop doop, doop doo doop, doh doh de-doh
Doop doop, doop doo doop
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know,
Where those treetops glisten, and children listen,
To hear sleigh bells in the snow, the snow.
I am dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write,
May your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white.
Doop doop, doop doo doop, doh doh de-doh
Doop doop, doop doo doop
I am dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write,
May your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white.

Frosty the Snowman
Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump, look at Frosty go.
Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump, over the hills of snow.
Frosty the Snowman, was a jolly happy soul,
With a corn cob pipe and a button nose, and two eyes made of coal.
Frosty the Snowman, is a fairytale, they say.
He was made of snow, but the children know he came to life one day.
There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found,
For when they placed it on his head, he began to dance around!
Frosty the Snowman, knew the sun was hot that day,
so he said, "Let's run, and we'll have some fun now, before I melt away."
He led them down the streets of town, right to the traffic cop;
and only paused a moment, when he heard him holler, "Stop!"
For Frosty, the Snowman, had to hurry on his way,
But he waved goodbye, sayin' "Don't cry, I'll be back again some day."
Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump, look at Frosty go.
Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump, over the hills of snow.

Nuttin' for Christmas
I broke my bat on Johnny's head;
Somebody snitched on me.
I hid a frog in sister's bed;
Somebody snitched on me.
I spilled some ink on Mommy's rug;
I made Tommy eat a bug;
Bought some gum with a penny slug;
Somebody snitched on me.
Oh, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
Mommy and Daddy are mad.
I'm getting nuttin' for Christmas
'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad.
I put a tack on teacher's chair
Somebody snitched on me.
I tied a knot in Susie's hair
Somebody snitched on me.
I did a dance on Mommy's plants
Climbed a tree and tore my pants
Filled the sugar bowl with ants
Somebody snitched on me.
So, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
Mommy and Daddy are mad.
I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad.
I won't be seeing Santa Claus;
Somebody snitched on me.
He won't come visit me because
Somebody snitched on me.
Next year I'll be going straight;
Next year I'll be good, just wait
I'd start now, but it's too late;
Somebody snitched on me.
So you better be good whatever you do
'Cause if you're bad, I'm warning you,
You'll get nuttin' for Christmas.

Happy Xmas
So this is Xmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Xmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
Chorus: A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Xmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Xmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
Chorus
So this is Xmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Xmas
We hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
Chorus
War is over, if you want it
War is over now

Santa Claus is Coming to Town
You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He's making a list
And checking it twice;
He's gonna find out
Who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
You better watch out!
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus is coming to town

Parade of Wooden Soldiers
The toy shop door is locked up tight
And everything is quiet for the night
When suddenly
The clock strikes twelve
The fun's begun
The dolls are in their best arrayed
There's going to be a wonderful parade
Hark to the drum
Oh, here they come
Cries everyone
Hear them all cheering
Now they are nearing
There's the captain stiff as starch
Bayonet's flashing
Music is crashing
As the wooden soldiers march
Sabres a clinking
Soldiers a winking
At each little pretty maid
Here they come, here they come
Here they come, here they come
Wooden soldiers on parade
Instrumental section
Daylight is creeping
Dollies are sleeping.
In the toyshop window fast;
Soldiers so jolly,
Think of each dolly,
Dreaming of the night that's past;
When in the morning,
Without a warning,
Toyman pulls the window shade,
There no sign the Wood brigade
Was ever out upon parade.

O Hanukkah, O Hanukkah (sung two times through)
Hanukkah, oh Hanukkah, come light the menorah
Let's have a party, we'll all dance the horah
Gather 'round the table, we'll give you a treat
Dreydles to play with and latkes to eat.
And while we are playing the candles are burning low
One for each night they shed a sweet
Light to remind us of days long ago
One for each night they shed a sweet
Light to remind us of days long ago.

Carol of the Bells
Hark! how the bells,
Sweet silver bells,
All seem to say,
“Throw cares away”
Christmas is here,
Bringing good cheer,
To young and old,
Meek and the bold,
Ding, dong, ding, dong,
That is their song
With joyful ring,
All caroling.
One seems to hear
Words of good cheer,
From everywhere,
Filling the air.
O, how they pound,
Raising the sound,
O'er hill and dale,
Telling their tale,
Gaily they ring,
While people sing
Songs of good cheer,
Christmas is here!
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
On on they send ,
On without end,
Their joyful tone to every home

Everyone is full of cheer,
It’s the very best time of the year.
Happy times of food and fun
Season’s greetings everyone

That warm Sobeys festive touch.
