Term 1 is nearly in the books, which means it is time for reporting! We will publish reports late afternoon on 5 October. Years 7-11 reports are written by students as an inquiry into their learning and a goal for the year. There are no grades on Years 7-11 reports. Year 12 reports are written by teachers. There are grades on Year 12 reports. The end of Term 1 means MSCs are right around the corner (6-7 October), followed by a well-earned Term 1 Break.
A few reminders about procedures for MSC:
All MSC scheduling was done via PTC Fast. Parents who did not sign up should plan to speak with teachers after the Term Break. Please contact the Secondary School Administrative Assistants to schedule a time after the break, if necessary.
On both Thursday and Friday, we will hold on-campus MSCs in the morning and online MSCs in the afternoon.
For the morning sessions, all teachers will be in the gym building. The following faculty members will be upstairs in the dance room: all counselors, Pak Dodin, Pak Irwan, Ibu Farha, Ibu Popy, Pak Chris Thompson. Click here to see the map.
All conversations are a maximum of ten minutes long. For on-campus conversations, we will ring a bell and ask parents and students to move to the next conference. For online conversations, the teacher will keep an eye on the time and end the conversation appropriately when time is up.
Please follow all health and safety guidelines throughout your time on campus.
Students who attend conferences do not need to wear their school uniform.
A few tips for successful MSCs:
MSCs are most successful when they are focused on the student/child, not on the class.
MSCs are most successful when they are a conversation between teachers, students, and parents.
MSCs are most successful when teachers, students, and parents have all read the child’s report. For Years 7-11, this means all parties have a good understanding of the child’s learning and goals for the year. For Year 12, this means all parties know the child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and specific steps to achieve that improvement.
MSCs are most successful when there is a strong emphasis on how the child can improve, and not only on what the child can improve.
Enjoy the day and the opportunity to engage in conversations about learning!
If we do not have the opportunity to see you at MSCs, whether you find yourself in the Greater Jakarta area, or you are traveling, we wish you a happy, restful, and healthy term break. We look forward to seeing everybody soon.
Kind regards,
Pak Steve Spannring and Pak Edi Sunarya
