On the 12th of September, we started our second unit under the transdisciplinary theme of “Sharing the Planet.” On that day, we started the unit by watching a movie named Lorax. We discussed how a balanced city should be then we designed an eco city. A city that is balanced between human needs and the natural resources that are provided. The name of my city is Bloxbury. Bloxbury is a city that is friendly to the environment and humans. There are a lot of empty land and fields that people or animals use. Most of the city uses solar power because Bloxbury is a very hot city. There are 2 farms that people mostly get their food from but most of the city is vegan so there are almost no cows, pigs or sheep. Bloxbury has a lot of trash cans for humans and the environment. It is very weird for people to eat meat. For transportation most people use electric cars or boats.
On the 23rd of September, we had an assembly performance. This is part of our first unit about technology with the central idea that evolving technology creates opportunities and challenges for individuals and society. We adapted a kind of live show called Perfect Match where I am a contestant who looks for their perfect technology. The presenter told us 3-5 facts about their technology and tried to persuade and convince me to choose them because they are the perfect match for me. Before the day when we perform, we practiced several times, in this, we improved our self-management time because we have to study as well. In this assembly, they demonstrated their communication skills to speak and convince me. We also demonstrated the learner profile of risk-taking because we tried something new and were willing to do our best. We developed our social skills by working together to perform and share knowledge with everyone during the assembly.
