Dear Community Members,
The Global Jaya School campus is buzzing with cheerful students, innovative projects and initiatives, great student-led assemblies, and many extra-curricular and after-school activities from Monday to Friday. We look forward with great anticipation to next week's Athletics Carnivals, an opportunity for our youngest through to our older students to compete for their houses, Elang, Garuda and Rajawali, while showing their school spirit.
I am so proud as our GJS students, staff, and parents work harmoniously to practice the GJS Vision & Mission, which aligns the school's academic goals and strategies with the IB Learner Profile attributes. Through their words and actions, community members are demonstrably caring, balanced, principled, and risk-takers. Through our term reports, and reinforced via discussions during MSCs, we will see students demonstrating how they have been inquirers and thinkers, as well as knowledgeable and reflective. These attributes, adopted as our Schoolwide Learner Outcomes, are at the very heart of what we seek all GJS students to grow to embody.
This academic year sees GJS stakeholders diligently preparing for re-evaluation and authorisation visits from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Our K-12 Curriculum Coordinator and Accreditation Officer, James Merry, spearheaded focus group discussions. Each meeting is designed to have honest, constructive feedback to help GJS improve its learning and teaching and plan for a new schoolwide strategic action plan.
As previously mentioned, the joint visitation is scheduled over five days from the 9th to the 14th of April, 2023. The two organisations, IBO and WASC, are well-established and highly professional organisations that support our focus on improving our student outcomes while fostering continual school improvement. We want to thank all teams and focus group participants for their time and quality input. With participant dedication and valuable input, our school's focus and direction will continue to move us forward, further ensuring that GJS students are leaders in their communities, with the tools and knowledge to succeed in a mobile and competitive global society. Next Thursday, 6th October, and Friday, 7th October, we host our Term 1 Mid Semester Conferences. We look forward to full engagement across the school over these two days. For new or long-existing families of GJS, we strongly encourage you to meet your child (ren)'s teachers to discuss their progress since beginning classes on 7th August. All teachers, Principals and Leaders at GJS look forward to seeing you soon on campus during the Mid-Semester Conferences.
The Global Jaya School Board comprises 3 Directors from our Yayasan Pendidikan Jaya, the GJS Parents Association Chairperson, 3 Parent Representatives (one for each of the PYP, MYP and DP programmes), our General Manager and myself as Head of School. This advisory body convenes three to four times per school year to discuss a wide range of matters related to GJS operation and management: student enrolment, student achievement, staffing, school fees, risk assessment, strategic planning and so on. In particular, the Parent Representatives serve as a voice of their constituents, helping the board understand prevalent concerns and viewpoints. The information shared, inputs and feedback provided help guide the School Leadership Team in performing their functions with the school's day-to-day operations.

From all faculty, staff and leadership to our wider community, THANK YOU. Stakeholders' overwhelming support and positivity are greatly appreciated as much as they are welcomed. We recognize continued efforts to regain our pre-pandemic position fully; with your support, trust and partnership, we will see this become a reality sooner rather than later.
