Season 1 Is Underway: The Hawks Are Ready!

Season 1 is officially getting underway, and over the past week, our Varsity teams had their first opportunities to test themselves through a series of friendly matches.

On Thursday, August 27, our Varsity Boys Soccer team took to the field against a local team, providing an important first test after the opening weeks of training. Then, on Tuesday, September 1, our Varsity Boys and Girls Volleyball teams had their opportunity to get started, facing a local club in their first friendly matches of the season.

While the results were positive overall, at this stage of the season, the focus goes well beyond the scoreboard. These friendly matches provide our coaches and athletes with the opportunity to test different scenarios, identify strengths, reflect on areas for improvement, and continue building as teams before official competition begins.

And now, the real season begins!

This Saturday, September 5th, our Hawks will compete across several sports and venues:

• ⚽ Varsity Girls Soccer will face the host school (LV), SPH-KV and JIS.

• 🏀 U15 Boys and Girls Basketball will face the host school (LV) and ACS.

• 🏐 Varsity Boys and Girls Volleyball will face the host school (LV) and ACS.

• ⚽ Varsity Boys Soccer will compete here at Global Jaya School, welcoming SPH-KV and SPH-LV.

Games will begin from 8:00 AM, marking the official start of what we hope will be another season full of learning, development, teamwork, and memorable experiences for our student-athletes.

For those competing at home, we would love to see our community on the sidelines. Come along, wear your Hawks colours, and support our teams as they begin their Season 1 journey!

More Than Football: Connecting With Our Community

Every Wednesday, Global Jaya School welcomes a group of young players from the local community, part of the RANS Junior group, to train on our campus and experience football in a different environment.

The initiative is about much more than developing football skills and understanding the game. Through regular training, we aim to create a positive environment where young players can develop teamwork, respect, responsibility, discipline, resilience and confidence, values that can support them well beyond the football field.

Coming to GJS also gives the players an opportunity to experience a new setting, train on our facilities, meet new people and learn more about the values and approach that shape our school community. Just as importantly, the regular nature of the programme allows relationships to develop over time. Meaningful community connections are built through consistency, trust and shared experiences, rather than through a single event.

Initiatives like this are another way for Global Jaya School to use its people, facilities and expertise to create opportunities beyond our own student community, while continuing to strengthen our connection with those around us.

Football brings us together. The lessons we learn through it can stay with us for life.
