Dear Global Jaya Community,
Believe it or not, we are officially one month into the new academic year! Whether your child joined us for the very first time or returned as a familiar face, this past month has been all about adjusting to new environments, getting to know new teachers, trying out fresh routines, and building new friendships.
Now that the initial "first week" excitement has settled, it’s a great time to check in and see how your child is adapting. Here are four simple, family-friendly strategies to keep the momentum going and ensure a smooth, successful year ahead:
Gently Tune Your Daily Routines
By now, your child has experienced the shift from summer break to structured school days. If mornings still feel a bit hectic, try fine-tuning your evening routine together. Setting out clothes, checking backpacks, and agreeing on consistent sleep and meal schedules help keep stress low for everyone as the school year progresses.
Keep the Lines Open with Teachers
A strong partnership between home and school makes a world of difference. If you haven't already, take a moment to drop a short message to your child’s teacher, whether to share how your child is feeling at home, ask about their learning goals, or confirm communication preferences. If your child receives specialized learning or behavioral support, an early check-in helps ensure their individual needs are being met smoothly as schoolwork picks up.
Nurture Social and Classroom Confidence
A full month in means students are diving deeper into classroom expectations and navigating new friend groups. Ask open-ended questions about their day to prompt fun stories about classmates, and gently reassure them that forming strong friendships takes time. Replicating positive classroom habits at home, like daily reading or organized study routines, gives children a comforting sense of consistency.
Stay Connected with Our School Community
When children see their families actively engaged in school life, their sense of belonging grows. Make sure to mark your calendar for upcoming Back-to-School nights to walk the hallways, meet educators, and preview the curriculum together. You can also look out for quick ways to get involved, like volunteering for school events, being a guest speaker, or chaperoning upcoming field trips.
We are so proud of how well our students have adapted over these first four weeks, and we look forward to a wonderful year of growth together!
