After an exciting audition and callback process, we are thrilled to announce that the cast for this year’s Musical Production: The Sound of Music (Youth Edition) has officially been completed. This year, we are bringing together 32 talented students from both Primary and Secondary School, creating a wonderful mix of new and returning performers.
Our musical journey officially began with our first cast meeting on 27 August 2026. It was a joyful opportunity for everyone to meet their fellow cast members, learn more about the production, and begin building the ensemble that will bring this beloved story to life. We are especially excited to welcome many new talents who are joining a GJS musical production for the first time. At the same time, it is wonderful to have several students returning from previous musical productions, bringing their experience, enthusiasm, and love for performing arts back to the stage.
The excitement continued on 1 September, when the cast came together for our very first rehearsal. From the moment the rehearsal began, the students showed incredible enthusiasm and energy. They actively participated in activities designed to build their ensemble, explored the characters and world of the musical, and began working together as a company.
One of the most exciting parts of this early stage is seeing students from different year levels and school sections come together with one shared goal: to create something meaningful, joyful, and memorable on stage. The rehearsal room was filled with laughter, curiosity, collaboration, and plenty of creative energy. While there is still a long journey ahead, the strong spirit of teamwork we saw in our first rehearsal has given us a wonderful start.
As rehearsals continue, our cast will gradually develop their characters, learn the music and choreography, and work together to build the world of The Sound of Music. We are looking forward to watching these young performers grow not only as artists, but also as collaborators, communicators, and members of a production team.
We will also be holding a Parents Meeting for all cast parents on 9 September 2026, where parents will receive important information about the production, rehearsal process, expectations, and the journey ahead.
With 32 performers, a growing production team, and lots of enthusiasm already in the room, The Sound of Music Youth Edition is officially underway. We cannot wait to see where this journey takes us… and, most importantly, to see our students shine on stage!
