From September 29 to October 4, 2025, Global Jaya School proudly hosted one of our biggest interschool events yet: HawksCup 2025. This year’s theme, “RIOBORN,” symbolized revival, resilience, and the reawakening of school spirit across Jakarta and beyond. With more than 20 participating schools, hundreds of student-athletes, and six days packed with sportsmanship and celebration, HawksCup 2025 marked a historic milestone, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Global Jaya School.
HawksCup 2025 featured three sports competitions: volleyball, basketball, and football, all held across our sports facilities on campus. The academic competitions consisted of Model United Nations and an essay writing competition, hosted in designated classrooms. For the arts category, the event featured a vocal solo competition, where individual participants performed on stage.
Across our courts and fields, energy never dipped. The gym roared with intensity during volleyball and basketball matches, where our scoring tables, officials, and student volunteers worked tirelessly to keep each game running smoothly. On the field, teams battled passionately under the afternoon sky, cheered on by classmates, coaches, and visiting spectators. The synergy between athletes and supporters created an atmosphere that truly embodied the spirit of RIOBORN; one of unity, perseverance, and collective pride.
What made this year’s HawksCup especially memorable was the remarkable dedication of our student volunteers. Decked in bright turquoise crew shirts, they were present at every venue. Organizing teams, assisting referees, managing logistics, and ensuring events ran seamlessly from morning till afternoon. Their teamwork and enthusiasm captured the heart of what HawksCup aims to be: a celebration not only of sports, but of community.
As competition days came to a close, the excitement did not end. For the first time in HawksCup history, we held a Pensi (concert night) as the grand closing event, an unforgettable addition to our school tradition. Under the glowing lights of the outdoor stage, students gathered in front of the massive screen, which proudly displayed “GJS 30th Anniversary,” ready to celebrate the end of a long and exhilarating week.
The night opened with a performance by JAZ, followed by Wijaya 80, whose energy electrified the crowd. With live music filling the air, students sang, danced, and celebrated together. The Pensi transformed the HawksCup finale into a vibrant festival, bringing together athletes, volunteers, supporters, and guests in a moment of pure joy. It was a powerful reflection of how far HawksCup has grown and how RIOBORN truly symbolized renewal.
The success of HawksCup 2025 would not have been possible without the collective effort of so many. We extend our deepest gratitude to all participating schools for their sportsmanship, to coaches and referees for their guidance, and to our tireless support staff for keeping every venue safe and organized. We also thank parents for their constant encouragement, teachers for their presence throughout the week, and, of course, our student volunteers, whose hard work brought HawksCup to life.
HawksCup 2025 was more than a tournament. It was a testament to the power of school spirit, collaboration, and the vibrant legacy of Global Jaya School. As we look back on this year’s event, we celebrate not only the winners of each sport but the community that made RIOBORN an unforgettable chapter in GJS history. Here’s to 30 years of excellence, and to the many HawksCups still to come.
On the 10th of December 2025, the Global Jaya School theatre shook with anticipation as students gathered to witness the culmination of this year’s Vice Presidential Election season. After a week of campaigning by the two candidate pairs—Jana and Ali (JANALI #1) and Elia and Sean (ES #2); the debate marked the final opportunity for both teams to present their vision, values, and commitment to the student body. Each pair delivered passionate speeches and thoughtful responses, demonstrating their readiness to guide the student council in the years ahead.
Global Jaya’s leadership structure sets our elections apart from many other schools. Instead of voting directly for a president, students elect a pair of Year 10 vice presidents who later transition into the presidency in the second semester of Year 11. This system ensures continuity in leadership, provides future presidents with a year of mentorship under their seniors, and enables long-term initiatives to develop across multiple grade levels. Because of this unique structure, each election carries significant weight; one pair of leaders ends up shaping the student council’s direction for two full years.
This year, the students have entrusted that responsibility to JANALI #1, who emerged as the elected vice president for the 2025-2026 term. Their campaign focused on strengthening community spirit, ensuring transparency, and promoting inclusivity in school events. Their message, shining through their campaign and charisma on the debate stage, resonated strongly with our students, earning them the confidence and support they needed to win with a convincing majority.
The election season itself showcased the best of Global Jaya’s collaborative and spirited environment. Campaign posters were displayed across campus, and lively conversations took place among students from each new program, as both candidate pairs' social media were updated with new information. The debate in the theatre became a powerful moment of student voice, where ideas were challenged, different visions were shared, and leadership potential was shown on full display from both sides.
As we close this year’s election chapter, we extend our appreciation to both candidate pairs for their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the entire process. We also thank the organising committee, moderators, and staff who ensured that the debate and voting process ran smoothly and professionally. Most importantly, we applaud the student body for their active participation, thoughtful consideration, and commitment to strengthening student leadership in Global Jaya.
Despite not being elected, ES #2 remains in high spirits, taking their loss with grace and pledging to continue being valuable members of the council. With their victory, JANALI #1 now begins their journey; first as vice presidents learning from their predecessors, and in a year’s time as fully-fledged presidents leading the student council themselves. Their term holds promise, growth, and new ideas that will continue to shape the vibrant spirit of the Global Jaya Student Council.
Congratulations once again to our elected Vice Presidents, Jana and Ali. The student body eagerly awaits what your new blood will bring for the next two years of student leadership.
On the evening of October 31, 2025, Global Jaya School transformed into a world of mystery, suspense, and cultural exploration as the Secondary Student Council successfully hosted the annual Halloween Movie Night. Held across the MPH and the admin building, the event brought students together for an immersive celebration that blended Halloween traditions with the richness of Indonesian folklore.
This year’s theme, “The Mark of the Spirit,” drew inspiration from Kemah Terlarang (The Forbidden Camp), an Indonesian horror film rooted in supernatural local legends and mythology. Before the main movie screening, students were invited to explore a Halloween maze set up on the second floor of the admin building. With scarers, props, and carefully planned transitions between zones, the maze became one of the night’s highlights.
Alongside the maze, a themed photo booth near the admin building allowed students to capture memories of the night. Styled to match the event’s eerie aesthetic, the photo booth offered a lighter, playful contrast to the suspense of the maze, allowing students to laugh, pose, and commemorate the experience with friends.
As the evening progressed, attention shifted to the MPH, where students gathered for the movie screening. At 18:30, Kemah Terlarang began, immersing the audience in a story of mystery, possession, and survival. With English subtitles provided, the film was accessible to all students, allowing everyone to fully engage with its narrative. Accompanied by snacks and drinks prepared by the consumption team, the screening created a comfortable yet thrilling communal experience.
Behind the scenes, the success of Halloween Movie Night 2025 was driven by the dedication of the Student Council and its various divisions. From publications and ticketing to security, technical support, and finance, each team worked closely to ensure the event ran smoothly from preparation to clean-up. Teachers, security staff, and custodians also played an essential role in supervising and maintaining a safe environment throughout the night.
More than just an entertainment event, Halloween Movie Night 2025 served as a celebration of unity, creativity, and cultural appreciation. By incorporating Indonesian folklore into a beloved school tradition, the Student Council delivered an experience that was not only exciting but also meaningful and educational.
As the final students left campus and the lights dimmed, Halloween Movie Night once again proved why it remains one of the most anticipated events of the school year. With its successful execution and memorable atmosphere, “The Mark of the Spirit” has set a strong standard for future celebrations, leaving students eagerly awaiting what the next Halloween at Global Jaya School will bring.
Sumatra flood relief aid: the student body’s initiative to assist Indonesia
The student council believes that helping others is a vital component of effective leadership. When severe flooding affected many areas in Sumatra, our school community came together to support those in need through a donation drive. This activity showed how students can make a real difference when they work together with care and responsibility.
The donation drive started on Friday, December 6, with donation bins placed around the campus students and members of the community could easily contribute. From Monday, December 9, to Thursday, December 12, students were encouraged to volunteer by sorting donated items from the bins. These donations included clothes, food, and daily necessities, showing the strong generosity of our school community.
On Friday, December 13, the Student Council began organizing the donations in more detail. Items were sorted into categories, including clothing (grouped by age), dried food, hygiene products, and day-to-day essentials such as toys and accessories. During this process, Student Council members Gemma, Olivia, and Vienna also initiated the idea of donating feminine hygiene products. To maintain cleanliness and dignity for the recipients, these items were individually wrapped.
Sorting and organization continued during lunchtime on Friday, December 13, and Monday, December 16, and Tuesday, December 17, with additional after-school sessions on Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday, December 18, the activity was finalized with the help of the PA and GA teams, who assisted in organizing larger items and applying labels to the boxes. In total, the donation drive resulted in 81 donations, consisting of 27 boxes (kardus) and 21 sacks (karung).
After everything was completed, the PA team, with assistance from JNE, sent the donated items to the designated relief location in Sumatra. This donation drive highlighted the importance of teamwork, empathy, and taking action to support communities in need. The Student Council sincerely thanks everyone who donated, volunteered, and contributed to making this initiative a success.
