Our camp in Yogyakarta from November 12 to November 2025 was an unforgettable and super fun experience. On the first day, we learned about Indonesian culture by making traditional fans, learning about wayang, and creating eco prints using natural leaves and flowers at a cultural workshop. These activities helped us become Inquirers and Open-minded, because we explored new ideas and appreciated traditional art and nature in creative ways.
On the second day, we learned about the Ramayana story and performed a dance at Prambanan Temple. This was the most exciting part of the camp because we were taught by professional dancers who actually perform in the real Ramayana dance. We watched them perform and learned the movements, facial expressions, and teamwork needed for the dance. After just one day of practice, we performed together, which helped us become Risk-takers and Confident Communicators.
The third day focused on environmental care. We visited a bank sampah and learned how waste can be reused instead of thrown away. We made eco-friendly candles and soap, which helped us become Caring and Principled, because we learned how our actions can help protect the environment. We also developed important skills like collaboration, creativity, problem-solving, and responsibility.
Besides learning, we also had lots of fun together. We sang songs loudly on the bus, swam at the hotel, laughed a lot, and spent quality time with our friends. These moments helped us build strong friendships and made the camp even more special. Overall, this camp helped us grow as Balanced IB learners while creating amazing memories we will never forget.
What would you do if your favorite park was about to disappear? That is exactly what happened in our Year 6 Assembly, under the transdisciplinary theme of 'Sharing the Planet'.
Our story was about a peaceful and beautiful village where the government planned to build a new road to improve the economy. At first, this sounded like a good idea. However, the villagers soon discovered that the road would be constructed over the park where children play, families relax, and people spend time together. This is when the problem started.
Through our assembly, we explored our central idea: the interdependency between governments and society plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable development. We showed that the government and citizens need each other. Citizens shared their opinions through peaceful demonstrations, posters, and social media, while also learning that sharing fair and balanced information is a big responsibility.
In the end, we showed that conflicts do not have to end badly. By listening, discussing, and understanding different points of view, the government and society were able to find a compromise. This assembly taught us that both the government and citizens have responsibilities. They need to listen to each other, speak respectfully, care about others, and work together to make decisions that are fair for everyone.
