On November 7, the Year 4 students held their summative project for the Sharing the Planet unit through a mini expo titled Eco-Friendly Green School. During this event, students showcased their final project outcomes, including green school designs, 3D models, and informative written reports.
Throughout the project process, students engaged in several learning activities such as:
Researching the use of sustainable materials
Integrating natural elements into school design
Considering the use of environmentally friendly energy sources
Developing various ideas to create a sustainable school environment
In the final stage, each student brought their design to life using different media formats, including illustrated drawings, building layouts, 3D models created with computer programs, and physical models made from recycled materials.
The assessment focused on students’ understanding of green school concepts and their ability to write informative reports. The physical models served as a creative platform to support the presentation of their ideas.
During the exhibition, students demonstrated great enthusiasm and confidence as they explained their green school concepts, answered visitors’ questions, and shared what they had learned throughout the unit.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event. We are proud of our students’ creativity, communication skills, and commitment to environmental awareness.
On Friday, December 12th, the Year 4 students held an engaging Natural Disaster Expo in the MPH building from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
As part of their learning journey in the How the World Works unit, students explored various fascinating features of the Earth, different types of natural disasters, and ways to prepare for such events. To showcase their understanding, each student created a detailed diorama, an informative brochure, and a poster based on their selected topic.
The dioramas illustrated the effects of different natural disasters on humans and the environment, while the brochures provided concise and accessible information for all visitors. Visitors included students from Grades 2 to 6, teachers, and the parents of Year 4 students. These brochures aimed to educate others about the various types of disasters and to share safety tips for emergency preparedness. The students worked very carefully on their dioramas and brochures, producing excellent and thoughtful work.
The students felt excited and proud to share the knowledge they had developed over several weeks of research, especially with their parents who showed strong support throughout the event. This experience was extremely valuable, as it allowed them to demonstrate their skills in research, critical thinking, and effective communication.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all visitors who attended, supported, and provided constructive feedback. Your encouragement motivates us to continue learning and growing.
