Dear Global Jaya Community,
With the end of semester one now here, we have much to celebrate as a community. We have successfully navigated eighteen and half weeks of school. As always, there have been ups and downs, but our determination and focus never wavered. The students worked hard, teachers maintained high standards, and our parents were incredibly supportive and engaged. Overall, everyone should give themselves a pat on the back for a job well done.
Going into the long-holiday, let’s make sure to celebrate our hard work, enjoy time with friends and family, recharge our batteries, and renew our focus for the second half of the school year. Just as was true of semester one, we know that semester two will be equally busy.
Finally, in Ibu Lavesa's section of Global Insights last week, she announced that she will be moving on from Global Jaya at the end of this academic year. Let me take a moment to wish Ibu Lavesa all the best as she prepares for her future. During her time at GJS, she has demonstrated unwavering dedication and leadership in her capacity as Primary School Principal, and next year, we will miss her passion for education and positive energy.
As always, thank you for your support and please enjoy the December edition of Kontak.
Happy Holidays,
Dr. Howard Menand
Head of School
Sumatra Disaster Donations
To help support the communities of Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra, which were impacted by the recent flooding, Global Jaya School, in collaboration with the Parent Association, undertook efforts to collect donations and to raise money for those in need. In just over one week, the outpouring of support from our community demonstrated a profound level of generosity and concern for others.
After three days of sorting and packing, with a huge effort from our Parent Association and Student Council, Global Jaya collected a total of 93 boxes of donated goods.
-48 boxes delivered by JNE
-33 boxes delivered by Halim
-12 boxes with Ibu Nanda (by flight)
And, as of today, the Parent Association collected 71.298.007 IDR in cash donations to be used to support the flood victims.
On behalf of the school, thank you everyone for supporting this important cause and helping a community in need.

Celebrations
In the month of December and November, GJS was alive with many activities, assemblies, and events. We celebrated Christmas as a whole school; we enjoyed the Athletics Carnival and Sports Day events; and the teachers were appreciated during the Teacher's Day celebration.
Coffee Morning - Let's talk about Wellbeing
Our first Coffee Morning of Semester 2 brings a very special and important opportunity for all parents: together, we will begin co-creating our school’s definition of Wellbeing. GJS is proudly committed to fostering a holistic education in which the wellbeing of students, and all members of our community, remains central to everything we do.
As an ever-growing community, we are taking intentional steps to ensure all voices are heard as we work toward a shared understanding of what wellbeing means for GJS. Our goal is to ensure our school continues to be a balanced and supportive place where our students thrive, feel safe, and grow with confidence.
So mark your calendars, this is an event you will not want to miss.
Adiwiyata Certification
Last Thursday, December 11, GJS received the Adiwiyata award from Bapak Andra Soni, the Governor of Banten, which officially recognized our school as an environmentally friendly Adiwiyata School at the provincial level. Building on previous year’s success at the Tangerang City level, this achievement represents a significant step forward and reinforces our dedication to sustainability, as outlined in our school-wide action plan. This award also represents our strong commitment to creating a greener, more responsible school community.
The Adiwiyata Program is an environmentally friendly (Green School) initiative run by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Education and Culture. This program aims to strengthen environmental education to foster environmentally responsible behavior among all members of the school community.
This Adiwiyata certificate was awarded after we presented extensive evidence of our commitment to implementing environmentally friendly practices at the school and underwent an assessment by the Adiwiyata Team. What makes us proud was that the majority of evidences was collected with the help of Green School Community, one of our student body organizations actively advocating environmental friendly approaches in school.
