Secondary SCHOOL news

VOL. 87 March 1, 2024

Greetings Global Jaya Community! Whether you realize it or not, we are nearly at the end of Term 3, and we would like to remind you of some important upcoming events and deadlines.

Term 3 Reports: Students in years 7-11 are currently in the process of revising their reflections for their Term 3 reports. The focus of their reflections include assessing their progress towards the goals that they set in term 1 and reflecting on the challenges they faced throughout the school year and ATL skills they used to overcome these challenges. As parents, you are encouraged to speak with your children about their reflections prior to the MSCs.  The reflective conversations on your part are a great way to stay engaged with the learning journey of your children. Finally, students in year 12 will receive reports with grades and comments, not reflections, and reports for all students, years 7 to 12, will be published in Managebac on March 6.

Term 3 MSCs: Speaking of MSCs, they are right around the corner, March 7 and 8. At this point in time, parents have signed up to attend MSCs, and we look forward to your visit to the school for these important conferences. We ask that our parents are on time for their MSC appointments, and if you feel that more time is needed with the teacher after the MSC, please contact our secondary school secretaries (adminassistants@globaljaya.com) to set up follow up meetings.

Festival of Hope: On Friday, February 23, we held a community meeting in the theater to discuss a wonderful opportunity that Global Jaya has been asked to lead. This opportunity is the Festival of Hope, which is truly an event for students and run by students. It is intended to serve as a platform for students to discuss their vision of the future and to foster action and purpose towards improving our world. While we are very much in the early planning stages of this event, I encourage members of our community to join our steering committee and take part in the planning and preparation of this wonderful event. Check the message sent to our parent community through Managebac with more details about the Festival of Hope.

Finally, don’t forget that from March 11 to 15, Global Jaya will be on term break. I wish all of our Global Jaya families a restful and relaxing holiday. And, as always, thank you for your continued support. Wishing you all happiness, health, and wellness.
