Reception

The reception students embarked on their final project for this unit, Exploring new colors derived from the unit's activities. Students opted to create diverse items such as monster socks, caterpillars, and hair clips. Students are also fostering their critical thinking skills in selecting colors and encouraging a spirit of experimentation by following teacher-provided instructions.

Throughout the unit, guest speakers have enriched the students' understanding of color application in everyday activities—for instance, Ibu Tasya visited our class to impart valuable insights on utilizing colors in clothing. We discovered that selecting appropriate colors can enhance the attractiveness and overall appeal of our outfits when worn. During a baking session with Sweet Tooth Cake, Ibu Yulia elaborated on the significance of colors in cupcake decoration. The reception students expressed great delight as they decorated and savored the cupcakes they had adorned. Meanwhile, Mama Seoha showcases the use of colors in creating attractive and marketable bag hangers. Students have learned how we can make something valuable from the things around us.

In the English lesson, the reception students have learned about asking the 5W questions. Using these questions as a guide, the students drew characters  (who) and added the settings (what, where, when).   Later, they attempted to write the story using phonetic spelling and the many sight words learned in class.   In addition, they learned about a big word named antonym. With a few examples, they soon figured out that antonyms are opposites.  They when they had the chance to lead, they even created some funny antonyms like; what's the antonym of ice cream? Answer: Tea.  This made the learning situation more interesting and students became more active in this session.

Reception students have also showcased commendable reading abilities, They are keenly aware of story components, including the author's name, book title, and book cover imagery. Moreover, they demonstrate the capacity to read and predict events based on the book's title. Students have also displayed vocabulary growth by actively participating in discussions during the session and posing relevant questions related to the text. Congratulations to the reception students for their progress and engagement.
