For Indonesian people, November 10 is a historic day as we all commemorate Heroes Day. Through the class Google Meet, all year nine students participated in the school's flag-raising ceremony. Each of us has a hero in our lives. To further commemorate this day, some of our students will share more about the heroes in their lives.
A Student From 9 A:
My hero is my parents. They worked hard to raise me and made me able to go to school, eat, and live. But they also taught me very important things that made me a better person. They get mad at me whenever I do bad things, but advise me when I am confused or need help. They also are proud of me when I achieve something. They help me to achieve my goals and support what I want to do. They are always there for me and I look up to them. (Sabrina)
A Student From 9 B:
Putting someone on the pedestal of a hero is not something that we should always do, as everyone is imperfect. But the people that I would consider a hero in my life are my parents. They raised me in a way that made my childhood the happiest it could’ve been, and formed me into the person that I am today, with all my strengths. Not only that, but they have provided me with a supportive environment filled with resources and opportunities for me to grow, and improve both my personal abilities and my abilities to help others. They are supportive of any of my choices, and with the billions of people on this planet, I am forever thankful to have been brought into the world with them being my parents. With all of their flaws, I still consider them the most significant people of my life. (Nisa)
A Student From 9 C:
My heroes are my parents. They have taken care of me since the day I was born and they have made me into the person I am today. They have provided me with everything I need in my daily life. They always believed in me and helped me do what I am passionate about so that I will live a happy life moving forward. They remind me every day that I am cared for, which makes me feel very supported and not alone. They always know what is best for me because they are the only people that know basically everything about myself. (Bira)
A Student From 9 D:
Heroes in this world are not represented by the weapons they use, the costumes they wear or the superpowers they own. It is their hearts, integrity, care and mindfulness that truly make someone a hero in this world. My hero is my parents. My parents are the sole reason I have led such a happy and wonderful life up until now. No matter what struggles life brought forth, they were always there for me and I too was there for them. My parents have always recognized my imperfections, though never had they truly despised me for them. They would always lend their caring hand and warm embrace, helping me improve as a person and therefore they are my heroes. (Emir)
SOCIAL CONNECTION IMPRESSION:
Following our most recent social connections event, here’s what some of the year 9 students had to say about the experience:
I think it was a pretty good activity to connect and interact with our peers from different classes and grades. (Gihon 9B)
I think the social connection activity was fun since we got to spend time with friends and people from other year levels, although it was very tiring. (Jenny 9B)
I think the social activity was fun although it’s very tiring (Javier 9B)
I think the social connection activity was fun and we were able to collaborate with different year groups. (Sabrina 9A)
The Social connection was pretty fun to solve the riddles and talk with our seniors, however, it was a bit awkward since we rarely talk to our seniors and we weren’t able to directly interact with each other. (Bira 9C)
