Research has been an important part in the inquiry process for the Year 6 students. Through research, Year 6 students are able to find information and evidence that will enable them to inquire deeper into the topic they are working on. As an integrated part of any research project, Year 6 students are required to have a record of all the information sources they used in their research. By properly documenting the sources Year 6 students used in their research, they are able to properly credit the authors of the words or ideas that they used in their work, to show the reader of their work that they have done proper research, and to avoid plagiarism in their writing.
As part of our effort to support Year 6 students to develop this skill and as part of the preparation for the upcoming Exhibition, starting in November the Year 6 team collaborates with Pak Ahmad as our librarian to have regular sessions with the Year 6 students. During these sessions, Pak Ahmad will guide the Year 6 students in how to properly create a citation for various sources of information that the students may use such as websites, magazines, interviews, images, etc, by utilizing online tools.
