Dear Parents,
We each have much to be thankful for as we approach the end of this semester and enter into the Christian holiday season of Christmas. I would like to share with all of you what I am truly thankful for:
First and foremost, I am thankful that I continue to be a member of the GJS community, having daily opportunities to engage with, learn from, and work alongside our exceptional students, faculty and parents. True happiness comes from feeling welcome, feeling valued and feeling that your efforts are making a difference. I am pleased and thankful for what we have continued to achieve despite the evolving challenges and opportunities faced this past semester.
Second, I am incredibly thankful for the hard work and dedication of a group of visionaries who would like to build community connections, reconnect with our Alumni, further engage with our parents, and inspire our current GJS student body while also drawing in support of the wider community. Last week, after a year of discussions and project planning, two significant activities took place that supported this vision.
GlobalConnect2021 is an ambitious and diverse week of community-focused engagements, drawing on the sharing of university experiences and the professional expertise of many of our community members. I wish to thank those who worked so diligently behind the scenes, making the event flow smoothly and those in the spotlight serving as presenters, panellists or discussion moderators. Through a web portal, zoom conferencing, and Instagram Live, we sought to provide live, interactive engagement opportunities for students, parents, and alumni alike. The GLOBALCONNECT21 site and the @gjs_society and @pta_globaljaya Instagram accounts provided a window into the event. Our collaborative planning for GLOBALCONNECT22 will begin in the new year; please stay tuned for details on when, what, and how, and contact details if you wish to participate in next year's event.
GJS Alumni Wall is a commemorative and celebratory project designed to immortalize our past graduates uniquely for GJS as a school and that tied into our GlobalConnect21 event and our 25th Anniversary celebration efforts. As an extension of this alumni wall effort, we have made class photos available to the members of each graduating class, allowing printing and framing their class photos. Our new Alumni wall is on display in the foyer of the GJS Theatre building. Please see the carousel below to take a walk down memory lane with our past graduates...if you or your past graduates would like to get their class photo, please access our Alumni class photo collection here

Please check out our EVENTS page for links to our end of semester celebrations. The videos are / will be available on our Global Jaya School youtube channel. We hope you join us for our end of the semester and seasonal celebrations.
Last, but by no means least, I am thankful that with the coming break, we will have the opportunity to disconnect and unplug ourselves from our devices and increase our personal interaction with friends and loved ones, and hopefully, family, as we celebrate this holiday season. I have been fortunate to have been surrounded by warm and caring friends and colleagues during this past year. While I will not wholly unite with my immediate family, we will have the opportunity to share with my wife's family in Bolivia. In the spirit of sharing and caring, I wish your family a blessed holiday season filled with warm engagements, tasty food choices, and the capturing of memories that you carry with you into the New Year that will be 2022.
I can be reached via email at headofschool@globaljaya.com if you have questions or concerns that you need help in deliberating and resolving. Given the holiday season, I will not be checking my messages as often as I usually do, but do promise to respond within a reasonable time to anyone who reaches out to me.
We want to continue to remind everyone to abide by the requirements to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay positive.
Happy Holidays!
Cory Carson
Head of School
Please see below for new information, recent updates and any reminders.
On Friday, December 17, 2021, from 8:00 am to 10:30 am, Global Jaya School, in partnership with Puskesmas Parigi, will host a vaccination clinic to deliver DT/TD/MR boosters. Students in Years 1, 2 and 5 who are not yet fully vaccinated for DT/TD/MR are encouraged to participate. Please see our Managebac communications for full details.
On Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, Global Jaya School, in partnership with RSPI - Bintaro Jaya, will host the first of two COVID19 vaccination clinics for GJS students inclusive of all those aged 6 years old through to 18 years old who are currently unvaccinated. This will be followed by the second clinic on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon for the 2nd dose. Please see our Managebac communications for full details.
The choice to have children vaccinated remains at the discretion of the parents and has not been made a condition of continued on-campus attendance. That stated, there is a strong push from the local and national authorities, which is also supported by GJS as a school, to encourage all eligible community members to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible. The vaccination that will be provided by the health authorities during our vaccination clinic is Sinovac.
While there has been ongoing shifting of position by the education authorities regarding the pending break and the start of lessons in the new semester, please know that GJS continues its extending of operation during Blended Learning with:
classrooms limited to 50% classroom capacity (max class size of 5 in Early Years, max class size of 18 for all other Year levels)
Primary School and Secondary School will operate on full academic days as of January 24th
On-campus students attending live lessons for all their classes
After School Activity offerings will be held both online and face to face during Term 3
Odd and Even weeks of on-campus attendance will continue after our Semester Break and the subsequent Circuit Breaker period of Synchronous Home Learning, as was updated in our December 7 Update message to community members.
During the weeks of January 10 - 14 and January 17 -21, all classes for Kindy through Year 12 will be delivered in the Synchronous Home Learning (SHL) format, i.e NO ON-CAMPUS ATTENDANCE during these two weeks for any students regardless of their odd / even on-campus participation. This will afford us certainly that when we resume Blended Learning on campus that all community members, those who may have travelled either inside or outside of Indonesia, have completed quarantine if required, secured negative covid test results and are clear and safe to return to campus starting the week of January 24th.
Please see the updated table below, which clarifies the start of our Semester 2 schedule and our odd and even rotations through to the end of January.
1) International Travel: To further assist us in our planning and communication efforts, we kindly ask parents to please fill out and submit the travel form below if you and members of your family will travel OUTSIDE of Indonesia during the semester break. Click here for the GJS Family Travel Plans Dec 2021-Jan 2022 form.
2) School Uniforms: In order to support our parents and students in accessing the services of our uniform shop, we are pleased to inform you of the launch of our online GJS Uniform Shop. Pak Adi, from our school store, is our new person in charge, attending to parent and student inquiries regarding uniforms. He can be reached at schoolshop@globaljaya.com, or via the WhatsApp chat function on our online uniform shop.
3) GJS Student Vaccination Certificate Collection Form (only for students aged 12 years and above): We are reaching high student vaccination levels overall, with 88% of eligible 12-18-year-old students having received their first jab and 83% are confirmed as fully vaccinated. At the moment, only 44 Secondary School students are unvaccinated. We kindly ask all remaining parents to complete the vaccination regimen with their eligible children and submit the certificate proof of vaccination through our google form. Please see above for details regarding our 6-year-old to 18-year-old vaccination clinics to be held in January / February 2022.
4) COVID-19 Parent Permission / Declaration Form: For parents who will be providing approval for their children to attend Blended Learning on-campus, please complete and submit ONE copy of the form for each child. Should you change your permission decision, please note that you should resubmit this form with your updated response. Students who do not have the parent permission letter on file will not be permitted to participate in on-campus activities. Update: as of today, we have 75% of all parents approving their children to attend Blended Learning.
5) Confirmation Letter: Any students beginning their on-campus Blended Learning attendance for the first time in January will be required to present this letter along with a negative swab antigen test certificate when they join their odd / even on campus rotation.
