Welcome to Year 2 for the 2021-2022 year!
Our first day of school
We welcome this new school year with warm greetings and enthusiasm. Our first transdisciplinary theme is “How We Organise Ourselves”. The central idea is “People take on different roles to support members of a community”. We are learning how people support each other through different roles they have in the community.
We were so fortunate to have Ibu Kania and Ibu Christa as our guest speakers. They shared their experiences and knowledge about their roles as community liaisons and marketing staff for Global Jaya School. We also learned how they work together in a team and with other school members to promote Global Jaya School to the community. As a community liaison, Ibu Kania often guides prospective parents and students to have a virtual school tour. During the pandemic, we can support parents virtually via Zoom or Google Meet to have a closer look around Global Jaya School. Meanwhile, Ibu Christa promotes and supports our school by preparing banners, fliers and social media advertisements on Instagram and Facebook.
By listening to the guest speakers, now we understand how they work hard for Global Jaya School and support the community in their special roles. We appreciate their support and wish all the best for them and our beloved school, Global Jaya.
Year 2 students are very blessed to have supportive parents. Regarding our Unit of Inquiry about Community Helpers, we had Bapak Rifat Sungkar as our next guest speaker. He is a famous Indonesian rally racer as well as Mayka’s daddy.
Bapak Rifat Sungkar shared his efforts, experiences and struggles in how he prepared to be a great rally racer. He started with very little and needed to put in a lot of effort to be a successful racer today. He mentioned that teamwork is so crucial for a rally racer to participate in and win the race. The racer, the co-driver and the mechanics work hard as a team to prepare for the race. The preparation is very important to ensure everything needed is on the track and safe for the driver and co-driver. A champion learns from their mistakes and experiences.
Now we understand that all good things need a lot of effort. It was so inspiring, and it motivated us to prepare ourselves for the bright future and to pursue our dreams. Thank you Bapak Rifat Sungkar.
August has been a very special month, especially for Indonesia. Year by year, we commemorate the event through a special celebration. During HBL, we celebrated this from home virtually. On Wednesday, August 18th, all students and teachers wore red and white attire. We attended the virtual flag raising ceremony respectfully from home. We sang the national anthem “Indonesia Raya” to show our gratitude and respect for all the heroes and founding fathers who fought for Indonesian independence.
After that, we had a choice to create either bunting flags or decorative chains to celebrate the special event. We worked independently on different Google Meet links with different teachers. We loved the activities since it developed our fine motor skills, creativity and nationalist spirit. Look at our pictures! We are proud of ourselves.

When it comes to the future, we all have something exciting to reach for and dream about. As Year 2 students, we have learned from different people how they put in their best efforts to pursue their dreams. We learned how to plan, to think and to prepare all the things we need for the Cita-Citaku Project. This is our culmination project for the first unit of inquiry.
We took our time to plan and ensure the project was finished properly by the time given. We did some research through the internet and with books to gather information related to our project. Teachers, parents and friends supported us throughout this project. What do you think of our projects? Hope it inspires you. Thank you.
