In partnership with the Civic League of Greater New Brunswick, a group of students at Lord Stirling Community School created an adaptation and mounted a full production inspired by Shakespeare's "Hamlet". The original play provided clear structure and characters that allowed the students to devise a new script, while exploring heightened language, paraphrasing skills, and character intention. The production design of this play was directly influenced by both images of the Day of the Dead and the story-line of "Hamlet". Students worked with STEAM to design and craft elements of sound, lighting, costumes, scenery, and props, to support a fully realized production. The resulting production was almost entirely crafted by the students, and was performed with enthusiasm, clarity, and strength.
