Second languages become an elective after Grade 8. Some universities require that students have a second language to meet general admission requirements. Refer to university and other post secondary institution calendars for specifics.

Prerequisite: French eight or teacher’s assessment that French 8 has been achieved. Students will be continuing to develop the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These skills will be integrated through various communicative activities and assignments. A rich, cultural component is integrated throughout the program. This course will be of special interest to all grade 9 students who want to complete their second language credit with Secwepemctsin Language. Students will not only learn and practice their oral language skills, but they will also learn about Secwepemctsin culture and about Secwepemctsin communities and their histories and traditions. Students willbenhance their Secwepemctsin vocabulary and sentence development, participate in conversations, and begin to learn how to write the Secwepemctsin Language.
