BIG IDEA: Growth as a theatre company requires perseverance, reflection, and collaboration.
We produce shows. That’s what we do! This course provides students with opportunities to write, plan, design, act, manage, and direct productions in front of student audiences in order to authentically practice being part of a Theatre Company. Each class forms and names their own company, writes and selects their own projects, and works together to produce several shows over the semester, including an evening performance for parents.
As part of a multi-grade class, students are provided with an environment in which they can grow with support from the older students serving as mentors and models; at the same time, students develop their own mastery and leadership skills by supporting younger students. This is a project-based course that provides students with incredible opportunities for personal growth and the development of soft skills such as time management, collaboration, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
