Students have the option of taking a Modern Language Course. Please refer to the post-secondary institution admission requirements as some institutions require a language at the Grade 11 or 12 level for entrance.
MFR--10
4 Credits
Prerequisite: French 9 or teacher’s assessment that a sufficient level of French 9 has been achieved. Students will continue to develop the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing using a communicative/experiential approach encouraging students to interact in meaningful situations. At the French 10 level there will be emphasis on more advanced communications skills and spoken work. A rich cultural component is integrated throughout the program. Some possible themes include: holidays, Paris, France, daily life, sports and leisure and countries of Northern Africa.
MBSP-11
4 Credits
This course is an introduction to the Spanish speaking world, its language and customs. Emphasis is on listening, speaking, reading and writing, using language and developing skills for future study and travel. Regular attendance, a determination to memorize vocabulary and language patterns, and a positive attitude toward learning are essential for success in this course. There are regular quizzes and a written and oral test at the end of each unit.
MSWP-10

This course will be of special interest to senior students who want to complete their second language credit with Secwepemctsín Language. Students will not only learn and practice their oral language skills, but they will also learn about Secwepemctsín culture and about Secwepemctsín communities and their histories and traditions. Students will enhance their Secwepemctsín vocabulary and sentence development, participate in conversations, and begin to learn how to write the Secwepemctsín Language.
