EVERYDAY - dust, shelve, align and check the order of at least two columns in section
Monday - Make-up day. What are you missing?
Tuesday -
Wednesday - There are new shelving assignments, effective immediately. There are highlighted sheets with your name that give you all the books for which you will be responsible. The list is also on the pink sheet on the bulletin board just behind the circulation desk.
Complete "The Price of Happiness Student Questionnaire"
(here). You must be signed into your Gaston County Schools Gmail account to take the survey and to view the anonymous results.
Once you have completed this questionnaire, please get your textbook and go to Tab 2. Look for the "Student Handout" under that tab. Take a few moments and DIGITALLY answer questions for #3 and #4. Share this document with Ms. J. You will be adding information to it as you go. Name the document Happiness_student name (Happiness_RJordan). All of the responses are meant to be more than five to ten words. Think these out and respond with your thoughts, not just yes, no, or IDK...To learn you have to do some work too!
Behind the "Student Handout" there is an article, "Advertising and Image: Do advertisements influence our self image and our self esteem? Read this article and the two that follow, "New code on body image for the media", and "10 Techniques for persuasion".
Find an advertisement in one of the old magazines (in the newspaper classroom at the back of the library) and answer #6 digitally (include a description of your ad or take a pic and send it to me) on the same Google doc as the articles above.
Thursday - Get your numbered notebook (textbook) and continue the work after the articles. Read the "Statement of Ethics" from the American Marketing Association. Looking at your advertisement from yesterday's assignment and the statement of ethics, answer question #7 on the "Student Handout" on the same Google doc from yesterday.
Respond to three of the statements in #8 on the "Student Handout". Please respond on the same document (Happiness_student name).
Take a look at the responses from "The Price of Happiness" questionnaire - responses are located here.
Answer the following questions on the Google doc.
1. What do you notice about these responses?
2. Are there any trends? Did many respond in the same manner?
3. What conclusions do you think that you could draw from this data? Are students (at least your sample here) more or less savvy when it comes to advertising?
Friday - Finally, you will complete #9 on the "Student Handout". You may work in groups or individually but you must follow the formatting instructions. There is a "script template" that you can copy and use from Google spreadsheets.
