Monday & Tuesday

Part I

Vocabulary Week 8. Be sure to share your vocabulary with Ms. Jordan when completed.

Part II

Select a random full page picture from a magazine and tear or cut it out. As a group, turn in all your pictures. Using the roll of ideas from earlier in the semester (5 minute stream-of-consciousness write on adding machine paper) select the first idea on the list and write down on a piece of paper. Then trade your roll to your neighbor, write down the last thing on his/her list. As a group, pass these papers in to the teacher. The teacher will randomly distribute the pictures and paper to students. When you have received your picture and two words/ideas. Write a complete story where these three things are central to the story plot.

Wednesday

Go to the Gaston Gazette online, sign into the newspaper's online edition using the user name and password given. Read one story. Assume the persona of one important person in the news story. Tell the story from his/her perspective. Due at the end of class today.

Thursday

Choose one classic villain in children's literature, perhaps your favorite, and write no less than one full page from the villain's perspective. Be comfortable taking the persona of this villain. Explain why s/he is considered a villain, what made him/her that way, what shaped the life that the person now leads. Due at the end of class today.
