Check out these updates:
⭐ We had an amazing fall semester, and I hope everyone had a restful winter break. We're looking forward to another great semester and can't wait to celebrate all of our students' hard work and growth so far this school year!
⭐ With the spring semester, testing season begins! The middle of the year iReady Diagnostic window for all students is January 7-24. Kinder and 1st grade will also take the mCLASS assessment be the end of January. All of the assessments students take throughout the school year help teachers plan lessons to focus on areas of growth for each student. Please help us stress the importance of effort when taking assessments in order to individualize instruction for your student.
⭐ Last semester we started focusing on positive character traits such as giving, gratitude, and integrity. We will continue to focus on these types of character traits throughout the year to help students embrace a growth mindset both personally and academically.

For WOW Time this month, we are wrapping up our career unit and beginning our unit on diversity and respecting differences.
Career - 3rd and 4th graders will learn about different career clusters and determine which cluster may be a good fit for them.
Diversity - Younger students will be learning about diversity and how each person represents different cultures, language, traditions, and more. Older students will be learning about their own identities and respecting and accepting others for the ways they are different.
Learning about diversity will help increase our students' ability to be tolerant and have empathy for others, have curiosity and learn about different cultures, and show compassion and inclusivity to different types of people.
At Beaver, we celebrate the differences in our students! We believe that together we are stronger when we combine our different strengths, backgrounds, and talents!
The choice of school/magnet application is currently open! This is ONLY for students who wish to change their campus, apply for a magnet program, or for students entering 6th grade. If your student is in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade and you are happy with your campus and program, you DO NOT need to fill out the Choice of School form.
You can fill out your choice any time between Jan. 7th and Feb. 10th.
Remember that these choices will be made in Avela, not Skyward. Families received an email with instructions about logging into Avela on Jan. 7th.
If you have any questions or need help, Ms. Sinclair is happy to help! You can call at 972-494-8301, then press 3 or reach me by email: alsincla@garlandisd.net
