Planet

"We are determined to protect the planet from degradation, including through sustainable consumption and production, sustainably managing its natural resources and taking urgent action on climate change, so that it can support the needs of the present and future generations."

– UN Agenda for Sustainable Development 2015

At UWCSEA our ambition is to have a world-wide reputation for Environmental Stewardship - a core part of our Commitment to Care for ourselves, others and our environment. We are not simply trying to 'Save the Planet' as Nature has been here for nearly 4 billion of years, the planet even longer; neither could be extinguished by mankind. Instead we want to ensure that the essential life support systems such as clean air and water and all the resources that only Nature can provide are protected to provide wellbeing for all....now and for ever. We understand too that Nature can provide a great sense of wonder and source of inspiration as well as providing for our material needs and this gives us even more reason to cherish and safeguard our natural environment. Learning that we are part of Nature and not apart from it is one of the most important mental shifts we are trying cultivate.

Use the drop down menu to find out how we are learning at UWCSEA to transform our College and Community so we can move towards living 'within the means of Nature'. Note that we have broken down Planet into the key themes of Biodiversity, Energy, Food, Waste and Water for each of the 5 elements in our Learning Programme.
