I've got an idea about how the school can improve this work - who do I tell?

See the Contacts page for the relevant person. We are hoping to get more people involved and would love to hear from you. However do be prepared to be asked take on the work of researching and implementing your idea further as we need to build more knowledge and capacity among our community.

What's the difference between Sustainability and Sustainable Development..I've heard both being used?

We prefer the term Sustainable Development as it implies an ongoing process with a focus on wellbeing and not just 'continuation' of something that the term sustainability can imply. However we do want sustain Nature''s ability to provide us with that wellbeing so sustainability is often used when talking about environmental issues such as resource management. But don't worry the two are often interchangeable. Just remember we are aiming to create a better world not just sustain this one!

UWCSEA is a very rich school and uses lots of resources. How can you claim to be sustainable or think you can teach it about it?

We don't make any claims other than that we are like every person, organisation and country - on this long journey of shaping a better world. How we reduce our massive negative impact on ecosystems while achieving wellbeing for our own community and others is the great human quest. This website is not pretending we know all the answers, but just a means of showing how we are engaging with this quest. Given our situation in a highly developed country, our journey is likely to be longer than many others.
