Service

Working for the Sustainable Development of local and global communities is the key theme of our Service Programme at UWCSEA. Improving the wellbeing of those who might suffer from Inequality and injustice or are more marginalised is a common focus of both our Local Service as well as Global Concerns. Some examples which are especially integrated with the other parts of our Learning Programme or College life are shown below.

Just volunteering? This article by our Chair of Service at East explains our changing approach to Service Learning in the Developing world
Teacher Training Outside of our learning Programme teachers are also involved in many projects locally and within the region. This article describes the work of our volunteer teachers acting as teachers trainers for our partner NGO the Cambodian Childrens Fund.
As well as teachers, our parents are extensively involved in supporting our GCs through service trips and fund-raising but also other organisations through the PACE programme. This reinforces our belief that Sustainable Development is a for us increasingly a community endeavour and not just something for students to learn. Read a parents story here.
