Sustainable Development is a key standard of our Service Programme, whether at college, local or global level, as we recognise that this is an area of our Learning Programme where we have perhaps the greatest opportunity to act as well as learn to shape a better world.
There are many examples from Primary to High where we engage with this UN pledge; we have chosen to highlight those which demonstrate approaches that are particularly unique, meaningful or deliberately integrated with the other the 4 UN pledges or parts of our Learning Programme.
See the Environment Section of our GC site for more information on all the GC's that have a particular Planet Focus.

ACRES (Dover) is the Grade 1 adopted Global Concern linked to the Unit Of Study “Extinction is Forever” when the students learn about mankind’s responsibility towards animals and their habitats. Events, such as presentations from ACRES volunteers and High School students involved in the PAW (Promoting Animal Welfare) GC, heighten the students awareness and show them the best way to take appropriate action.

Campus Gardeners (Dover) is a college service that works closely with our Landscape department. Their work includes construction of butterfly gardens and planting of indigenous flowering plants to deliberately increase biodiversity on campus.
UWCSEA Rainforest Restoration Project (East & Dover) is a College Service and Global Concern that works for the conservation of indigenous tree species on campus, in the community and further afield.

Lighting a Billion Lives (Dover) is Global Concern that links Planet to People - encouraging renewable energy generation as a means of targeting poverty alleviation. The GC was recently supported by a donation through our Carbon Offset Programme. We hope to support similar de-carbonisation projects through this scheme in coming years.
Fresh Fruit Fridays (East) is a local service that provides fruit for migrant workers in Singapore. They have linked with the Campus gardening groups to provide a worthy outlet for our campus produce and are a good way of donating often excess fruit from households to those in need - reduce waste and improving nutrition for the poorest in our community.
Focus on Food...coming soon
See 'Water' in our Academics section for an example of how a Water Warriors GC connects the curriculum and college service.
