"The interlinkages and integrated nature of the Sustainable Development Goals are of crucial importance in ensuring that the purpose of the new Agenda is realised. If we realize our ambitions across the full extent of the Agenda, the lives of all will be profoundly improved and our world will be transformed for the better." – UN Agenda for Sustainable Development 2015

The development of an integrated, 'Head, Hands and Heart' approach to Sustainable Development is expressed through the deliberate connections we are making between the 5 elements of our Learning programme and the actions we take on campus and within our community. Given the size of the College this is a very complex process, hence our need to expand our systems-thinking capabilities. Much of this integration is being done through our Curriculum articulation and concept-mapping process which is gradually incorporating the concepts related to Sustainable Development throughout our written curriculum. The table below that we have constructed (with assistance from educational partners the Ellen Macarthur Foundation) lists the relevant concepts for this purpose. It is by no means exhaustive but allows Sustainable Development to be approached throughout our Learning Programme. Some of the integration is also happening as we plan and link more collaboratively across the College. Many examples are found on this site but a detailed example of this is shown on the systems map above (click on the image to explore further).
