The Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) program is considered a blended program, preparing candidates to work with children, both with and without disabilities and their families from Birth through 5 years of age. The IECE certificate is required to work as Developmental Interventionist, Preschool Teacher and also credentials candidates to teach Kindergarten.

IECE PRESCHOOL STUDENT TEACHERS (Including Developmental Interventionist) Student Teachers will follow the same guidelines as listed in the Student Teacher Overview page on this website.

Please note the Developmental Interventionist (DI) Student Teachers may have other requirements which will be communicated by the University Supervisor.

IECE Student Teachers who student teach both in a preschool classroom and a kindergarten classroom will have two sets of standards to follow.

When being observed in the Preschool setting or DI setting, they will use the Early Childhood Standards listed above.
When being observed in the Kindergarten setting, they will use the KY Framework for Teaching as do all K-12 student teachers.

All forms used are the same as all other student teachers for Sources of Evidence and Planning.

During planning, the IECE student teacher will use the IECE standards and the KY Preschool Guidance Document of the KY Framework for Teaching to guide their planning.
