PRESCHOOL (IECE) STUDENT TEACHERS




This page serves to support  our Student Teachers in Interdisciplinary  Early Childhood Education (IECE).

The Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) program is considered a blended program, preparing candidates to work with children, both with and without disabilities and their families from Birth through 5 years of age. The IECE certificate is required to work as Developmental Interventionist, Preschool Teacher and also credentials candidates to teach Kindergarten. 

IECE PRESCHOOL STUDENT TEACHERS  (Including Developmental Interventionist) Student Teachers will follow the same guidelines as listed in the Student Teacher Overview page on this website.

Kentucky Early Childhood Standards  which you will see referenced in your student teacher’s lesson plans.

KY Preschool Guidance Document of the KY Framework for Teaching   KY Department of Education guidance document with preschool examples to accompany the Ky Framework for Teaching which is used for all other student teachers. 

IECE Student Teachers who student teach both in a preschool classroom and a kindergarten classroom will have two sets of standards to follow. 

FORMS TO BE USED BY PRESCHOOL (IECE) STUDENT TEACHERS 

All forms used are the same as all other student teachers for Sources of Evidence and Planning. 

During planning, the IECE student teacher will use the IECE standards and the KY Preschool Guidance Document of the KY Framework for Teaching to guide their planning.

IECE Student Teachers, when evaluated in the preschool or Direct Intervention (DI) setting will use the same evaluation document and KY Framework for Teaching Rubric, like all other student teachers. However, the supervisor will use the KY Framework with Preschool Examples as a guide (KY Preschool Guidance Document of the KY Framework for Teaching )
