JOB FAIR Resume/Interview Slides
Fall Job Fair will be held November 1, 2024 - 8:45-12:00 pm (CST) The afternoon is open for student teachers as there will not be any afternoon session that day.
Job Fair at Green River Regional Education Cooperative, 230 Technology Way, Bowling Green, KY 42101
All student teachers will submit the Resume Slides, following the directions listed below. Due date is Sept. 6.
All student teachers will attend the Job Fair unless they are excused by the Office of Professional Educator Services (OPES). The only exceptions are if a school principal emails the OPES to confirm that they are tentatively offering a job to the student teacher for the upcoming school year. The OPES team will notify the student teacher to attend their regular student teaching placement on that day instead of participating in the Job Fair.
Student Teachers will receive district slides about two weeks before the Job Fair to review which districts will be in attendance. These slides will have a lot of information about each individual district in attendance that day.
Student Teachers that do not see their preferred districts at the Job Fair, should not be concerned. The practice of networking and learning to visit with Human Resource and other administration is an important skill that will impact student teachers as they apply for jobs in other regional areas.
The Job Fair has other sessions, outside of district table exhibits that will be impactful for all student teachers.
Student Teachers are reminded to use their resume and introductory videos to market themselves outside of the WKU GRREC Job Fair. We suggest student teachers email principals of preferred districts/schools and introduce themselves to show their interest in working in their district. They should include their resume and introductory video.
The following directions explain what is due Sept. 6.
Below this section are resources on how to write an excellent resume and some examples of Introductory Videos.
Pre-Service Teacher candidates will create a slide deck (must use template provided with exact formatting) and submit the finished product, by clicking on the link to the Job Fair Submission Form below. Once your slide deck has been submitted, it will be published and accessible to all participating school districts to view.
As a follow-up to your submission, each student teacher will receive a district slide deck. This will give the candidate an opportunity to become familiar and “get-to-know” more about each of the participating districts.
Step-by-Step Directions for Pre-Service Teacher Participation
Click HERE NOW to ‘Make a copy’ of the slide deck template
By default, Google will rename this file by placing the word COPY at the beginning of the file name. Rename the slide deck as follows: Last Name_First Name_WKU_PreService_Teachers
Do not change the layout of slide information or add anything, background color or fonts as all candidate presentations should have the same layout and format. Slide #3, (Introduction Video) is an opportunity to stand-out as you make your first impression with districts. Be creative and spend time selecting your background.
Be sure to change Share settings to “Anyone who has the link” for all linked resources (resumes, websites, portfolios, etc.) as well as the slide deck before submitting.
Instructions for inserting the Introduction Video are included in the template (slide 3).
Clean up the slides by removing all instructions before submitting the final product.
All submissions are due Friday, Sept. 6.

(There is a sign in the QR code at the end of this video. You are not required to complete it. It also discusses a Warren County Job Fair. You may disregard the dates of the Job Fairs in the video, as it was from a previous semester. However, the rest of the video is important regarding the job fair slide submission, resume, interview tips, and certification information.)
