Topic: Being Present

Grade: 12

Objective: To increase students understanding of the importance of being present in conversation and engaging in true connection with others.

Procedures:

1. Watch Being Present Video with Ejay O'donnell - Season 2, Episode 21 (4:34 minutes)

2. Discussion Questions:

• What does Ejay mean by "Humans Not Robots"?

• Sometimes people don't treat us the way we would like. What can we do differently that might help this?

• How difficult is it to treat someone better than they treat you?

• Has there been an event in your life that has changed your perspective on how you see others?

• Think about what can you do TODAY to be a little more vulnerable. How can this help you treat others better?

3. Spend the remainder of the time planning/decorating the door for the holidays. You will have some time the next two Mondays to decorate, as well. Judging of the doors will take place on Monday, December 20th after Connections. The catagories that will be used for judging is below.

• Most Imaginative

• Judges’ Choice

• Best Use of Theme: "Holiday Hoopla"
