Home and Hospital Instruction
Children may be eligible to receive Home and Hospital Instruction if they are unable to attend school for more than four weeks due to a temporary disability for a medical problem such as leukemia, surgery, or other illnesses as deemed appropriate.
The purpose of Home and Hospital instruction is to provide instruction to a student with a temporary disability in the student’s home or in a hospital or other residential health facility, excluding state hospitals. When a physician determines there is a need for home instruction, parents/guardians should contact the school health office immediately and request Home and Hospital instruction paperwork.
The ultimate goal of the Home and Hospital program is to help maintain student’s current level of academic performance and prepare students to return to their regular day class or an alternative education program at their former level of performance.
