Lesson 12: We Feel Feelings in Our Bodies

Why This Lesson Matters

Students who can identify their emotions accurately tend to be more socially and emotionally competent. Students can use situational and internal physical clues to identify their emotions.

Learning to tune in to internal physical clues will prepare students to recognize distressing emotions that might require emotion management. Students need to be able to tell when they are angry, and also when they are experiencing strong emotions, such as worry or fear.

Talking about feelings with a supportive adult is an important coping skill for students.
