Lesson 7: Disagreeing Respectfully
Why This Lesson Matters
Students who develop empathy and perspective-taking skills are less likely to act aggressively and more likely to help others. Aggression and violence in schools often stem from minor disagreements between students. Teaching students to communicate different perspectives respectfully and assertively rather than either passively or aggressively can prevent small issues from escalating into serious situations. In addition, students who are able to communicate respectfully and sensitively are more likely to achieve positive relationships and academic success.
